About me:
Personal:
I have lived in the Reno area since 1980. I graduated from McQueen High School and the University of Nevada-Reno. I have been married for 24 years and have two children. My daughter, Emily is at McQueen and enjoys playing softball. My son, Robert is a scholar at The Honors Academy of Literature and enjoys playing lacrosse. As a family we enjoy fishing, camping, and bike riding. We also love to travel and explore new places. I enjoy collecting Children's Literature and sharing it with my classes. I just spent this summer traveling with my daughter and her softball team. It was a great experience that I cannot wait to share with you "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt 1884-1962 |
Professional:
I have been teaching since 1991. This is my second year at The Honors Academy of Literature. I teach Primary Literacy and Math. I am also the Special Education Coordinator for the school. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a focus on curriculum and instruction. I have presented at the Northern Nevada Math Council Math Conference, The Geographic Alliance in Nevada GeoFest, and The Nevada Charter School Conference. The Honors Academy of Literature allows teachers to teach scholars in a way that promotes learning and is developmental in style. It is the best way to teach and I love it! Teaching is never boring!!! |
